Camoplast "Energy" Track??

Anyone have experience with an "Energy" track from camoplast? I bought a 2002 ZR 800 carb and it came with it. Studs are currently in with 3 in the middle. What little riding I did last winter, I was not happy in the traction I got. I ride 70% ditches and 30% trail.

Thinking of either adding studs and keeping it or do you think I will I not be happy with it and I should spend the money to get a 1.25 of something more aggressive???

Thanks!

Some of the energy tracks look pretty aggressive. You haven't stated what size lug the track has.

Before you buy a new track be sure that your suspension is set up correctly for what riding your doing. If you have the front end jacked up you will never get the traction your looking for. It will not transfer the weight you need. Where are the rear spring set and how much do you weigh with gear when your on the sled.

How many studs are in it and what is the pattern? 3 studs on (Every) row inside??

I think if it where me, I'd try some adjustments before I commit to buying an expensive track.

Sorry guys, here is the additional info! The Energy track only comes in the 1" variety so that is what I have and the pattern in the middle seems pretty random.

I have not gone through the suspension yet, but it did seem like the shock was not charged up. I had a lot of sag in when I got on the sled.

So if I bought a 1.25 Ripsaw and went with like a 1.3_ studs, will I have enough clearance to bolt and go, or will I have to make adjustments??

The ripsaw is very hard to beat on hard pack trails. I just put an 1.25 on my sled in 136". Can't wait to try it. I did alot of research on it too. You should be ok with those studs and track on that sled as far as I know. I would wait and see what others have done. Pretty sure they have done the same thing.

I have heard the ripsaw sucks asphalt in the powder. The lugs are more like fingers and it's like swimming with your finger spread apart. I did hear the cobra is a good all around track. One guy even told me he doesn't miss studs with it. It's a 1 1/4 track with little nubs that make it 1 3/8. But the actual lug depth is 1 1/4.

Ripsaws do decent off-trail. There are better off-trail tracks if you do a majority of your riding off-trail, but if you mostly ride trails and only venture off-trail occasionally, the ripsaw is a good choice. I had a ripsaw on the powder special in my signature and it did pretty good off-trail. Not as good as the 1-3/4" predator that was on my ZR or the 2" challenger on my mountain cat, but those tracks don't do trails all that well. The ripsaw is a very good compromise track. I also had a camoplast crossover track on my m-cat and it was a good all around track too, but if I remember right it is only available in 144 and longer.

If you decide to buy new, I might be interested in the track you have now. 121x15 with 2.52 pitch? How much would you take for it shipped to 60178? It's in decent condition, you just don't like it?

I sent you a private message with an offer. Are you still interested? If not, let me know because I have received another PM from someone else interested. Thanks!

It seemed to me to be in GREAT condition when I bought the sled. The previous owner told me he had just put it on for that season and had only rode it on ice.

I will check it out and get back to you to ensure it still looks good. It has woody studs in now but I know some are broke off.

As for price, any time I have delt with buying/selling used stuff I have used the "half of new" rule as a fair price. My research tells me the cheapest you can get a new one on ebay is for $336 without studs.

I will get back to you on the actual condition today.
