I'm wanting to upgrade tired from a 30 inch maxxis zilla to a 31 inch outlaw wanting to know peoples opinions, tips for mods suggested to do. I have a 2010 700s with mud pro snorkel rad racked soon and speedwerx exhaust. Any help or opinions on these tires would be great. I do some highway driving but mostly offroad mudding but can't completely get away from something that is decent on hwy just b/c of wear on the tires since the investment for these will be pretty large. Thanks ahead of time

I run 31s on my Rzr 800, and just swapped my 29.5 Outlaw2s for some 31s to put on my Arctic Cat. The 31 is my favorite outlaw.

My take on the 31 Outlaw:
Pros:
Weight (lightest 30+ tire)
Runs close to 31 inches tall
rides smooth (for a mud tire)
It's an Outlaw

Cons:
Lugs are closer together on the 31s (and Outlaw2 29.5s), so clean out isn't quite as good as the originals.
Soft rubber, so stay off the highway!
Price (They are Outlaws! ha).

Still, I think the 31 is my favorite pure mud tire. I've owned all of them but Terminators (if they count as pure mud tires).

Compared to most ATV tires, yes. I noticed a little bit of wear on mine already, and only have about 500 miles on them so far (maybe 30 highway).

But they are the best tire I've owned so far. Love the height and the weight, and even the look. The skinnies used to look TOO skinny to me, but they grow on you.

they are the smoothest riding for sure but the edges will round off fast on pavement. if you have to alot of highway riding your going to have to deal with the wear with any dedicated mud tire unfortunately

You will need good clutching, Airdam or papa_slap and it wouldn't hurt to upgrade to 4.0 gears for max tire turning ablility. What gears do your diffs have?

just look up your model and its in the factory specs what gears you have, if not then there is a metal tag on the diff cover bolts that will say the ration on it from the factory

3.6 gears will be a lot better for low end power than 3.1's. you will have a little less top speed with the 3.6's. yes 4.0's can be weak if you drive it like you stole it constantly. I have 4.0's I drive mine like a tractor.

i ditched my 4.0's to go back to 3.6's after i spun a pinion gear and split a diff cover. Almost all o the guys i know running bigger tires and engine upgrades here have swapped back to 3.6's. the gear is just beefier when you put then side by side, you get more surface contact with the ring gear.

You can do without the 4.0s, I think they are a bit weak but are passable if you want super low gearing. Going from 3.1 to 3.6 is going to be a 16% reduction, from 3.1 to 4.0 a 29% reduction. Both of these will be very noticeable, and you will lose some top end (although 50mph should still be doable).

3.6s with some good clutching and you'll do fine with 31s in most situations you find yourself in.

AC stopped making them (for some reason). So right now you'll need to find used. I've heard good things about Rhino axles, and I honestly applaud AC on the toughness of their axles as is. I've only busted one on my V2 with OL2's, gear reductions and all that jazz.

I just installed the 30" monster mayhem tires, feels like a new bike.
I would recommend these over any other tire. Have friends who have various types of mud tires, these just walk right through stuff that theirs, well don't. Lol.

The Monsters are a mean tire... but for their weight (50 pounds) and height (30 inches) I think a 32 inch Silverback would be a better choice. It's basically the same tire, but it's taller and has slightly larger tread in the middle.
