Recommended ATV jack ???

I had an issue with my rear brake this weekend and in trying to figure out what was up I realized having a motorcycle / ATV jack would be a huge advantage.

I've seen some on Amazon and other locations for right around $100-125 that seem like they would work. As usual some mixed reviews.

Does anyone here have any recommended ones that I should check out?

I have a 2006 650 V2. I'm not sure of the weight of those, but I'm pretty sure a 1500lb one would work fine.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I boughts a craftsman one from sears and it gets used and abused and still works. Price was $100 on sale and worth every penny

High Position Motorcycle Lift

I have that, i just extended out the top arms and i have it bolted to the floor. Its nice to be able to bring them up to chest height when your sitting down.

I have the red craftsman and it works great. Just have to position it under you atv right.

Thanks for the replies. I like that High Lift one, but may be a big over kill for the amount that I would likely ever be doing any of my own work on the machine. Plus a smaller one would be easier to take to my buddies or to my Dad's house to work on theirs as well.

Will look at both styles a bit more. Thanks again.

ATV Jack question

In regards to the type of lift like the Sears Craftsman or other similar motorcycle lifts, do people find that those lift the ATV high enough to be comfortable to work on?

Seems one down side of the AC is that it has such high ground clearance that you need a jack with pretty decent lift to it to get up and be comfortable.

Interested in any feedback. I'm torn between the more expensive larger lift from Harbor Freight and the roughly $100 version sold by Sears and other places. The roughly $80 difference could go to other nice add ons but I really do want it to be safe and easy for a newbie like me to use.

Thanks,

One guy on here bought the 1000 pound lift table from harbor freight and uses that to lift his quad. I thought about that and decided i got that one of mine and it works fine. It works awesome when the pastics are off. How ever with the plastics on the lift arms are not quite long enough.

Get the table lift cart

I bought the 1000lb table lift Cart from harbor freight and couldn't be happier, in the pics under the write up i did on it i have a 650 v-twin jacked up in the pics. Holds it fine. It is stable and mobile. Best $200 bucks i spent on my quad. Look up the thread about garage tool or something. Make sure you use the 20 percent off coupons for it to save some cash.

The lift table looks like a great solution. A bit more than I really wanted to spend though.

It does seem to handle the one issue that I can't figure out exactly yet. It's that all the other jacks I've seen have pads that seem to be shorter in length than the distance between the bottom rails on my 650 are on the frame. If they aren't then it's so close I'd be worried about the machine sliding on the jack and dropping due to it.

Do people end up making custom rails to go on the jack to solve this issue or what?

I have the aluminum (Yellow) model from sears and the rails are just long enough to lift it evenly. I did see one at Harbor Freight that looked identical for around $125. At Sears it's closer to $200 but I got it on sale I think for $140.00. At that price you are getting into the ballpark of the lift table.

Thanks. Yeah a buddy of mine has one of the yellow ones. Not sure of the brand exactly. I very quickly lined it up and it seemed close, but certainly not overly big.

Think I'll give that one a shot just to see how it works and go from there.

Think the table is the way to go just need to justify it in terms of other stuff I'd also like to do for my ATV and riding gear. At least until I win that lottery!!

I definitely hear you there. We are going for a 5th wheeler and 3 of them have kids behind the bars. Their gear always comes first. Even over new tools! I have had this jack for 5 years with no problems. Sometimes paying a little more is worth it.
