I've got a problem with my Cat. It is a 2000 Arctic Cat ZR 700 snowmobile and I took her out today for the first time this season and noticed a problem when I gave her the throttle. After doing all the standered checks, she started and idled perfect. When I gave her the throttle and started to move she began to jump (or jolt). My first thought was an obstruction or the belt. I inspected under the front end, it was clear and then checked the belt, which was good as well. I left the belt shroud up and tried to move and noticed that when the drive clutch engaged and then jumped the belt clutch jumped out and then back in. I took her out for a run and it ran fine, this problem only happens when I start off. I'm not very mechanically inclined but can manage to do mostly anything myself but would rather find out what the problem was now in case I ignored it and something worse happened out on the trail in the middle of nowhere. Any help would be very much appreciated

clean your clutches. I use a scotch brite sanding pad on the sheaves of the clutches occasionally to get rid of old belt residue and to slightly roughen the surface so that the belt engages properly. Not rough really, but just not shiny. You can do it by hand, but for the primary I just remove the belt and run the engine at idle while I carefully run the scotch brite pad on the sheaves.

Thanks, it's not so much the belt jumping as it is the drive clutch popping in and out. I took her out today and now there seems to be a rattle on the opposite side when driving, right around where the muffler exits. I'm gonna have to take more time and examine her... thanks again.
