The inside should be as new as the day it was made. I cleaned up mine with a wire wheel, and painted it with that 1200 paint. It will last a little bit but eventully burn off. If you read closely it prob says *for spikes up to 1200 degrees, as most of that high temp paint is only good for 500 degrees.

 

That is exactly what is says so what should i get to paint it.

 

Take your pipe to an auto engine shop and have them put it in the hot tank! Gets rid of all carbon build-up.

 

I used VHT Flameproof, good for 1500 degrees.
Worked well so far, I sand blasted mine and ran them through the parts washer.

 

Hot tanking is the best as InsainCat said . For paint I like the JD muffler paint. Nice satin finish but it also discolors at the cylinder in time.

 

Personally I would forget the paints. Your only going to do it over and over and over again. bang your head

You can take an old speedo cable, fray the end up and attach it to a drill. Install the cable in the pipe and run the drill. Also could put ball bearings inside of the pipe and shake it around to loosen carbon build up before the cable. This idea comes from the clymer manual.

 

I'll take it to work with me sand blast it then put in the hot tank as said thanks. How much does ceramic coating cost and where can i find a place to do it? I was going to paint it and then rap most of it. I like the way rapping looks.
