I have searched and have officially given up. Does anyone know how to set the torsion springs? I have the long part installed but have to get the short part pulled up to the triangle things. I have a 2001 zr 500. Thanks!

Pick the back of the sled up to give yourself vertical clearance for the spring to go down past the track. Unbolt the sliders for the long end and put the short end on first then just lift the long end into place and slide the bolt in.
Yep, what he said. Short end installed 1st, long end then installed 2nd.
Don't dismiss that having the sled rear 8" off the ground really helps
in getting this done.
just did this this week end. exactly What Bob and digger said. I would add have the nut nearby and ready to put on and be very careful when pulling up on the spring and putting the bolt through the hole in the skid frame. Do not have any part of your body below the spring incase it gets away from you and hold onto it tight until the nuts on the bolt several turns.
Cut the tops off of the sliders where the long end of the springs sit. The springs are always in tension i.e. force is downward, so no worries of them popping off.
This eliminates having to hold spring in place while you slip the bolt through the chassis. Especially helpful if you run heavy duty/fat boy springs.
Have done this on a few ZR's and cut a set for a Rev as well.
third on cutting the top of the support guide. little narrow then the spring diameter. Never had the spring pop either over 3000 miles ridden... as stated earlier - always have tension on them.
