Got a 2011 AC 550 TRV and last fall, I noticed its brakes wasn't at their previous 100% level. Being off-season (re: currently snowmobiles are still running in my north woods), I decided to investigate & clean my ATVs brakes today. To my surprise, its rear brakes were in bad shape. re: Some brake disc minor scaring (from small stone/sand in its brake contact area) and its rear pads were very thin. Ouch!. This is the 1st time I've serviced & "replaced" my own ATV brakes.

Thus... DIY share - for other Newbies...

Note: I will do its front pads a different Sunday.

In addition to video, I also:
  • Supported ATV with proper jack stands (instead of round log).
  • wire brushed entire brake parts and cleaned using brake cleaner spray.
  • Used 4" sander and sanded the brake disc surface - to smooth out its minor groves.
  • Installed 10mm bolts using thread lock glue.

Today, I replaced & cleaned the front brake pads. During this task, I also greased their slider rods (as shown in Video #2) with Marine grade wheel bearing grease. Also removed the rear brake assembly and greased its slider rods as well. During shop bay testing, I also discovered its right Foot Brake pedal was sticking too much. So, I removed & lubricated it as well. All is now good - for future "burnishing" (aka: Pad Seating) task. Will do this in soon future.

Hope this helps others - especially Newbies / first timers (like me).
