Just bought a 06' Crossfire 600. Has 1100 mi. Does the diamond drive require any maintenance? Also, any issues with this sled?

Yes the Diamond Drive requires maintenance. You need to change the oil in it. Should be able to go to your dealer and get a new bottle. I think it only takes like 3 oz or so. They also sell a flush fluid to clean the old fluid out with. You might also want to get a tunnel reinforcement kit. The first year crossfires were know to bend or kink the tunnels without the reinforcement. They aren't too hard to put on either. Otherwise they are a pretty nice sled. I've got an 06 700 XF and love it.

adjust the throttle cable, that is 10 free HP.. reeds are a waste of money. A y wont gain you much with the terrible clutching that are in those sled from the factory. A y is good for a couple HP. Start with clutching for best bang for the buck. If you do the Y get the BMP pipe mod to go with it, run the stock can.

i talked to a guy at the bikeman performance booth at the nh grass drags just recently cuz i am looking into the torsional conversion kit that comes with their stage two clutch kit and asked about the y pipe and some other stuff cuz i have a 06 xf 600 sp. he said the y pipe was useless and a waste of money unless you have some serious porting done to your motor. said the clutch kit was a good mod and i will be updating my fuel program to the 08 600. just my two cents. take it for what its worth... lol

Diamond drive should oil should be changed atleast once a year. Tunnel reinforcements should be installed, not really dependent upon how hard you ride as some tunnels kinked with light use. Tunnel reinforcements I believe are about 40 dollars for the pair. Personally before you do performance modifications I would drive the sled a couple times first so that after you put the mods on you will know if you actually lost performance.
AND put some pictures up!

i talked to my local dealer and they said they can get it done i bring my computer to them they ship it to cat re flash and send it back. cost was around fifty dollars plus shipping. i posted on this on another thread and someone else said cat wouldnt do it cuz of the epa. that doesnt make any sense cuz the 08 tune is supposed to be a more advanced and cleaner running sled. plus better power. some people have said it cant be done so i guess i will see and post about it. will be bring my comp in very soon and the dealer said it would not be an issue at all. they have done a couple of them so far. there currently is no updates for the 06 tune maybe thats what some dealers are confused about. actually have to send the comp to cat and have them re do the tune to the 08 set up

EFI cats are known to come from the factory pulling the throttle body about 3/4 to 7/8 of the way open. My 06 700 was way off. To check it zip tie the flapper wide open to the handle bar, reach down and pull up on the butter fly with your hand. If it moves more adjust your cable so it pulls it all the way open. This is why you will see some stock sleds that just rip and others dont. The dealers are suppose to check this during set up but most don't. Most people dont know enough to check it.
