Have the two deflection adjustment washers been removed from the secondary clutch? How high does your belt ride on the secondary clutch sheaves?

 

nothing has been done to it. it is 100% stock and the belt I pulled off was the original belt that came on it. I put the exact same belt back on but new. i bought the sled from an older gentleman who bought it brand new. the sled still looks like it should be on the show room floor.

 

my zl 500 was doing that and i had no clue what it was so i started tightening bolts and just checking to make sure everything was good for the ride and my bolt on the secondary was loose try that

 

How many miles were on it when you got it? Maybe the previous removed the washers. Thats what you do when your belt gets worn.

 

Measure the width of the old belt compared to the new belt. I'll bet the new one is a touch wider. Probably just because of manufacturing tolerance of the belt. With the sled shut off, see if you can insert a feller gauge between the side of the belt and the primary pulley. Should have about 0.040" clearance. If you have clearance and it is still squealing, you could have a broken primary spring and the clutch is trying to engage at a way too low rpm. Or, if the belt is too short, it could be squealing on the underside of the belt and not on the sides. I'd bet on belt too wide though.

 

my buddy's ski doo did the exact same thing last week, I'm interested in what the solution is to the problem.

 

almost sounds like deflection was adjusted with a worn belt or the dealer gave you a different belt like was suggested above
