Hello everyone, I am hoping maybe some wiring gurus can help me out. I am not a wire guy so this issue is pretty much has be tapped out on solutions. I bought the sled mid summer last year, it was in need of a wiring harness. I found one on ebay, all numbers matched with the orginal one. I got the harness in the sled w/ the 550, and it ran. (didnt ride it enough to tell if the charging system was working as well. So as time passes i swapped in a Zr580 using the 550's Internals (electrical). I am basicly looking for a way to run a wire for the stator to the battery for a charge. Or maybe a wiring hanress diagram. Thanks alot!!!!! BTW: the snowmobile is a 1993 EXT 550 EFI :moon:

All you need is the 3 wire voltage regulator off the sleds with batteries. The 3rd wire is the wire that will charge the battery.
That little grey box with the 2 wires in the top of that picture. There are some with a 3rd wire and that's where the battery gets charged from. You could pick up one of those 3 wire regulators fairly cheap. The yellow and brown still plug into the rest of the sled as normal and the red wire will go to the battery's positive terminal. The battery would also need to be grounded. I've never personally tried adding a battery, I only tried to get a DC voltage off the 3rd wire, but it's only half rectified. It would have to be an automotive style of battery I believe. Not sure if a ni cad would work.
