Dear arctic Cat Snowmobile owner,

RE: 2007 M1000, Crossfire 1000, and F1000 models

Our records indicate that you are a registered owner of at least one of the effected snowmobiles listed above

It has been determined that under certain driving conditions such as operating at Wide-Open Throttle (WOT) or under heavy load over an extended period of time, the snowmobiles exhaust system temperature may reach an elevated level. In some cases, These conditions along with backfiring may cause distortion/discoloration to the side panal/belly pan area . In order to correct this condition, The production ECU must be programmed. The ECU is a computer controlled device that manages the engines systems.

Please make an appointment to take your snowmobile to an authorized arctic cat snowmobile dealer as soon as possible to have this very important service completed. The dealer will reprogram the ECU and get you back on the trail as quickly as possible. Once the ECU has been reprogrammed, the dealer will adhere a DECAL to the existing ECU showing the ECU has been updated.

This service work will be done at no charge to you. If you have sold the effected snowmobile, please complete and return the enclosed self-addressed card.

To ensure your full protection under the emission warranty on your engine by federal law,we recommend you have the above mentioned service done as soon as possible. If you do not have the ECU reprogrammed,ARCTIC CAT May consider this to be IMPROPER MAINTENANCE.

If you have any difficulty in obtaining service regarding this issue, call Arctic Cat at 1-800-279-6851

Sincerely,

Product Service and Warranty Department
Arctic Cat Sales Inc.

if anyone knows what they are doing w/ the ECU please post ! ! !
Thank You,

not sure what the changes are, but gotta be in the "better" category, with all the time they had and should of been tested in december on sleds.[/b]
I do hope you're right Dan... I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm not hoping for or expecting any miracles at this point of course, but if the following can be significantly reduced, eliminated, and/or fixed, there'll be a bunch more even HAPPIER Cat campers out there:

1. Any and all backfiring.

2. Any and all mag side panel melting/discoloring (the simple deflector update kit DOES seem to be doing it's job BTW).

3. One pull startups with warm/hot motors without having to nurse the damn throttle.

4. Cleanup the low/mid steady RPM cruising... tendancy to loadup a bit under those conditions.

Is that asking TOO much for a ten grand sled of the 21st century???

P.S. For the record, I DO love my sled... just wish some of these little gremlins never existed and/or would be taken care of, but I honestly think Cat IS trying...

now... about that damn poorly designed swaybar problem many of us have had and many more WILL have... let's get THAT taken care of ASAP too please! – Roy

i've heard theories on another site that made perfect sense to me..

it hopefully will clean up the mid range so there isn't unspent fuel in the pipe (backfire at startup) (also explains "excessive pipe heat" in letter)
and also possibly reduce excessive fuel issues at throttle let off..

this would be very nice if they clean up these issues !!

have only been able to log around 350 miles on this sled so far but it does seem VERY FAT in the low-mid range and from being accustomed to double burping mods in the past definately showed me the excessive fuel dump at throttle let off after long/hard pulls.

Had the reflash,

The sled back-fires more often than before. The thing is way too rich. At 50mph a rev 600 took me for about 4 sled lenths.

I just ordered a boondocker to see if I can get this thing to run good.

Love the sled, I just wish I could put my old zr800 motor in it.

And I bought a f 1000 to have the big dog in the group.

Well that's strike 2 on the F1000 ECU Reflash. I didn't get the first one and have no reason to get the second one. I run a stock pipe, after market y-pipe and after market can and the sled is perfect, no lean or rich condition, plugs are a nice tan color, hooks up, good top end, and no burnt or discolored side panels. I had a after market pipe, boondocker, and bullseyes, but took them off and sold them and installed the Top End Kit. I don't understand why some of the 07's have no issues while others do. That BS letter saying if you don't get the ECU reprogrammed it may be considered "Improper Maintenance"! Hey Arctic Cat, what about Improper Quality Control? I could see if all were junk or all were perfect, but 50-50, somethings wrong. Just my 2 cents guys.

Got mine back, second reflash! Low end (4000-4500 rpm) bubbles, sounds rich. Half the time on WOT take off it falls on it`s face than picks up, mid range seems good. Also when you hit the gas and let off it starts down, back up and holds there a couple of second, sounds bad. Not happy with A/C?

Stuck a piston in my reflashed 07 F1000 today. About 15 degrees, 1500 ft elevation, y-pipe, stock intake, 80 octane, about 15-20 secs wot and it shut down. After letting it cool a bit was able to drive it 40 miles back to trailer. Another guy at the hotel that I've been comparing notes with since last season stuck a piston in his reflashed 07 F1000 yesterday. Y-pipe no bullseyes, 80 octane. Same elevation with temps about -5. Careful if you're running any mods they're a little tight on top. Got it straight from Dale at D&D to run premium. Didn't listen, been running 87 since I bought it, would have been a lot cheaper in both time and money if I'd have taken the advice.

I haven't gotten the 2nd reflash but did get the first one  . Not getting the backfiring as much anymore. As for performance, still the same, not too impressive bottom and midrange (especially compared to a MachZ) I dunno . When the engine is warm, still got to hold the throttle slightly to get it started :( .
In other words, NOT IMPRESSED.

Raced my buddy's Nytro and he took me by 1 sled on takeoff till about 70MPH, again NOT IMPRESSED bang your head .

Mine is still bone stock and will wait till next year before modifying it, or when AC figures out their s**t with the reflashes. From what I've heard so far, won't get the second one badcomputer .

Don't get me wrong though, I LOVE the sled, the handling is A1 and nobody can touch me in bumpy twisty trails Rockerdude . The SnoPro suspension takes anything you throw at it :yo_sup: . It's just the straight line speed that doesn't add up.
