First and foremost I'd like to say Hello ...Hope all who read and reply are doing well !!!
He's the problem....
I have a 1998 300 4x4 I bought for my son and we have had to replace and or repair a few things to get it running great but thus far all fixes and repairs have been simple and easy but this particular issue is baffling me a bit.
I recently replaced the accelerator cable due to a frayed cable causing the throttle to stick ... While having the carb out I decided to clean it thoroughly. After cleaning the carb and installing the cable it has ran much better than it has since we purchased it ....All of a sudden after riding it several times the engine starts to stumble and it seems to be firing off in the exhaust under acceleration. It will sit there and Idle great in neutral as well as when you throttle the engine while in neutral. But If you jump on it and hit first she goes good for a second but then when you shift into any other gear the engine starts to stumble and or skip and sound like intermittent ignition in the exhaust if ya know what i mean by that .... Sounds like very mild backfiring. Not sure where to begin as far as troubleshooting this... The carb was cleaned very well and it ran great for a week or so... Anyone have any clues ...???????
My first guess would be the plug and or the plug wire ... maybe the coil breaking down .. just need some advice....
