did ac make a zr 440 sno pro in 97? if so does anyone have any pics? have a guy that says he will sell/ half trade a 1997 zr 440 sno pro chassis with all suspension minus the hood; motor; track; chaincase; seat and skis. for my 95 zr 580 chassis minus what i need to swap out.

It was never called a sno pro, but that pretty much is what the machine was. I dont know of any differences between the race sled and the consumer version. I had a 97 ZR 400. The suspension has Fox clickers in the front, Fox in the rear, with the front shock 'dial adjust', an aluminum bulkhead (only pre-1998 sled to have it), and I think thats it. It has the sno-x style handlebars with bar pad, but think that all the 97 ZRs had that. The chassis was wicked, and that little 440 (when setup) would outrun anything on the trails.

i havent seen it yet, but it supposedly has the thicker green skid rails, green belly pan, and the clear 5 gal. tank. i was told that it was a race sno pro, not the consumer version. but i guess ill see when it gets dropped off.

if its a 97 it looks like my sled.but the green belly pan and rails on the rear suspension dont sound right to me..and yes it is a damn fun sled.

There was no '97 Sno Pro, the race version and the consumer version were the same model. In '98 the race version looked like a typical ZR and got another engine change, the consumer version got the new plastic like the 500/600 with the '97 440 reed engine. You could go through the parts fiche and find a clear tank to work. Green rails come off a newer model.

Which reminds me, somebody was looking for carbs for a '97, if you could find a scrapped '98 consumer model they had big-mouth carbs for one more year.

so i have been doing some research and have come up with what i believe is the chassis i am getting. it would be a 98 sno pro chassis. old style hood and pan but with the vev motor in it. that would explain the green slide rails. any one know of these rare race machines? ive never heard of it. the regular zr 440 in 98 had the old 97 motor and the new hood and pan.
