I am having problems with the belt squealing on my 650 le. It is most noticable when decelerating downhill. I have ordered a new super duty belt and black spring from EPI for the clutch. Are there any adjustments for the engine brake? When I first start to accelerate very slow, there is an actuator sound that comes from the area of the engine brake and then the clutch/belt seems to hook up more solidly. When I am going down hill and let off the throttle completely the engine brake(?) engages and disengages very quickly and jerks the entire machine. I can hear a servo type of sound coming ffrom the area of the engine brake actuator. I have taken it to the dealer twice and they tell me it is OK. I know something is wrong but want some input from you guys before I take it apart. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Going downhill mine sounds like a camera motor going off multiple times. I'm sure yours is normal. It seems a lot of guys on here disable their engine brake. I'm thinking about doing the same.

It could be your belt got wet and under force it slips going down hill. I had this issue so I would control my desent and not let the belt/clutch take as much strain and hence no squeel. This summer my 650v2 sat for a month and a half in the hot shed and guess what no squeel under the same down hill situations as before. My guess the moisture evaporated. And yes the engine brake makes alot of noise. Now I did not pull the cover to verify moisture its just a gut feeling and I could be all wet on this. I also made the shim adjustment a while before this issue started and when in gear and not moving I start to hear the normal squeel even now so my belt is adjusted ok.

engine brake shuts off at roughly 3-5 mph so if your going that speed roughly it will sound like it is going crazy kicking off and on. you will know more on you other problem when you replace belt and spring, read up on reshimming or properly shimming as imo the belt might be a bit loose and is allowing it to freewheel at slower speeds or until you rev it up a bit. slight squeel while in gear stopped it ok but if it rolls then belt is too tight for reference.
