the foam is a filter to do just that filter the air. the air is still the same temp so it will not make you lean. you have a problem . are there any mods to the sled? is the sled getting oil? i had a 580 blew twice oil cable needed to be adjusted no oil until half throttle.

Years ago I closed off both sides with lexan. Used the four bolts already there to hold the plastic in place. Belt dust and brake dust and crap was the reason. This is on my 02 zr 8. Didhn't want this stuff in the airbox. I did open the front of the airbox using slp's vents. Never had a problem with this set up. Next time I'll probably just use slp filter fabric instead of closing completely. Find the real reason why you are having problems. Good luck
