Depend how hard you ride. If you like WOT, or hard pulls climbing hills, etc, then go 084. Off you are like me and the wife and are mainly trail cruisers with some light off trail, the 083 would be fine. Wife's 6000 has the 083 while my 8000 came with the 084. I bought an 083 as my spare. The 083 won't last on hard repeated pulls or lots of WOT runs but it also doesn't leave the black residue on the primary either which is a plus. But on trails or light off trail, 083 would be fine.

GregB makes a good point. The 083 has a smoother engagement and consistent shift pattern. But run two identical sleds with the two different belts pinned two the bars. The 083 goes first most of the time.
I don't work for Farmers, but I have seen a thing or two. :biggrin_old:

083 all the way for me. It grips better, holds rpm better and is a whole lot cheaper. If everything is right, the 083 will last many miles too. The last one I took off my sled had about 1600 miles on it and still looked decent. Many of those miles were at 80-100 mph too. The 084 is a band aid fix from Cat to mask their poor clutching, not necessarily a better belt.
