Wyo_H1_Cat Bushings

Hi, so I swapped my springs for some Highlifter ones on the weekend. And I should have known better, but as per standard arctic cat operating procedure, my shock bushings are trashed. So I am going to order a new set.

Wyo_H1_Cat's seem the way to go, but can someone tell me if they hold up in the cold? Like Canadian winters? I don't really know anything about the material they are made from, so I was just wondering if it's OK for cold temps. I don't ride when it's -30c or anything, but have gone out in -15c or so.

I know Todd uses them and he's near the twin cities. Mind you, it don't get to -40F there often, but -20F is relatively common - I believe he had a 2 week stretch of -20F this winter.

I get colder than that here (I don't live in the a$$hole of the world, I'm 50 miles up it), but don't have Wyo's bushings as my stock ones are still good. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't stand up.

Yeah I'm sure they are ok too, come to think of it I think AG has them on his too. My biggest concern was if they got brittle in the cold or something. I have never seen anyone say anything about it so I assume they are good.

Just looking for input before I buy I guess.

Had them on my V2 and ran them in the cold without issue at all. I have the H1 now, and as soon as they go kaput, I'll be getting Wyo's bushings. They are BARELY more money than stockers...like less than $10 shipped more. Can't beat it.

Yup, they are good to go. I've been in the ice and mud this winter.....enough where it froze up the suspension after a while, not good actually. They keep coming back for more and still look as good as when I put them in.

So, what is special about Wyo_H1's bushings? Are they supposed to last longer? Are they made of different material than the stock bushings?

Stock= rubber
Wyo_1 's= plastic of some sort.
They will out last stock bushings at least 20 to 1 maybe more??????
I have them and they work great.
I'm gonna need another set for my other quad pretty soon , 05 500.

I've had no problems with mine in the cold, as I have ridden my wheeler when it is -20 F and colder to plow snow with. They will hold up like nothing, and will tighten up the slop like you wouldn't believe in the suspension. The stockers just plain suck... I will get another set for my new ride when I get it for sure

If anything, they're going to be more durable in the cold than hot weather. Most plastics will be softer when warm/hot, harder when cold.

I noticed something about the WYO's bushings I have, the ones close to the shock body have 'moved' a bit but seem to be stabized now. Plowing & winter use didn't seem to have any effect. The bushings at the rod end have not moved at all.

They've stabilized, but to be honest I didn't get many miles on the ATV last year in the hot weather. So we'll see how they work out this year, as I'll be able to ride much more than last year.

I fly the ATV about as close to a moto-cross type of riding as you can get. Shock dampening fades very quickly, faster on hot days. The last brand new set of stock bushings lasted 200 miles, maybe less because the ones on the shock body side were already punched clean through by the time I replaced them... Metal to metal! This is likely due to the heat from the shock body softening them up.

Heat? Yes, shock covers are out of the question for me... The shocks need airflow to cool. They get so hot you can't touch them for very long without the sensation your finger is getting burnt.

They get incredibly hot, If I cross a 12" x 50' long puddle on the trail and stop on the other side, the shocks are bone dry within seconds and still hot even with all the water & crap thrown at them off the tires. It's kind of wierd, the entire ATV is dripping with water and mud, yet the shocks are bone dry in an instant. I could hardly believe it first time I noticed.

For the aggressive moto-cross-style riders getting low bushing lifespan... Shock heat migrating from the shock body softens the plastic and adds to the problem. Wyo's bushings are definitley more heat resistant & durable.

For non-aggressive riders, but with high rack loads... The extra weight may cause more articulation of the suspension than lightly loaded, so it's still possible to get the shocks to heat up and soften the plastic. Maybe not as bad though. Higher rack weights alone will impose more pressure upon the bushings, so if the shocks don't heat up it's just a matter of time before the pressure squishes the stock bushings.

How many miles is everyone getting out of the stock bushings?

I just noticed a bit of slop on my front end this weekend while I was working on it. Bushings appear to be bad (just starting to go bad actually), so I'll be ordering up a set of Wyo's bushings. Had them on my V2, and loved 'em. Will have them on my H1 shortly.

My 650 will be 3 yrs young this month, never checked the bushings cause I'm a fumb ducker and don't know how. How do you tell their shot? and what signs will I have that they are?

jack up machine so tires are just in the air. lift up and down on tire and look where the shocks bolt to frame (top and bottom) you will see lots of slop.

You can also feel a "knock" in the handlebars when you go over bumps. That's how I found out mine were bad on my V2.

I have a set of Wyo's bushings and so far so good. I just looked at them in fact and all is well with no play. Been a pretty hard 5-600 miles since I put them on and I have to say they are top notch!!! Lasted longer than my stockers already.
