I drilled holes in the bottom of the stator housing on my '98 ZR600 EFI and inserted the washers and everything. Went out sledd'in and put on 130 miles, stopped to wait for everyone to catch-up and when I went to start my sled the recoil just slipped. We openned the hood and the bolts that held the recoil cover on broke the flanges and the recoil was just laying there. I believe it was do to too much vibration and a lack of support.

Am I right??

I just did the same to mine but only have about 3 miles on it (mostly on the stand)

The part that broke is the recoil housing? not the bolts themselves is that right?

I'm thinking maybe I should take the washers out. I dunno

Yes, just the recoil housing. I welded up the pices back together, I'm hoping it will make it the rest of this year. We do not have much for snow in the Fargo, ND area.
