Starter woes
Purchased my 2014 XF7000 LXR this past march for a pretty good deal. The sled started and ran fine in March.
I performed an oil change on it a couple weeks ago and upon turning the key I was greeted with a loud back fire. All subsequent starting attempts were met with a loud grinding.
I tore the magneto cover off and the starter and gear are shot. I ran a magnet and cleaned out the area as best I could. I was never able to run the sled when the starter failed. Do I still need to remove the pan or is the likelihood of shrapnel falling into the pan minimal?
