f-1000
THE GOOD: picked up a f-1000 lxr dealer demo with 49 miles on it sat. morning on the way to pittsburg n.h. lets just say we broke the speed limit to get up there to try this new sled. (3 hour trip) sun. morning the first ride. house is on the lake so first run was down the lake with a snow covering and choppy, f-1000 pegged off 106 mph and i let off (new motor but how can i resist) i don't think it would have gone much faster anyways. acceleration was very smooth with authority right to 100mph. (very nice). hit the trails with seat in the highest position and bars foward. the lower elevation trails offered rough and rutted terrain ( lot of weekend riders and in desperate need of a groomer) the type of trail my f7 snopro would rattle your fillings out at trail speed. (my poor wife riding that one). this new f series rode beyond belief, this chassis is sooooo much better then the old firecat and has out revved the rev chassis. after 40 miles we stopped and chatted a bit and i felt like i have'nt even rode a mile yet, it's that good. steering was washing and i would immediately thruogh the stock skis in the woods and install simmons (cured the firecat steering with a pair).clicked off another 40 or so miles and my feelings have'nt changed (no fatigue and still have'nt felt like i've rode more then a mile) and yea this chassis is that good! chatted some more and this leads up to the bad.

THE BAD: my wife say's hows that sled and can i try it. well, with a long pause looking over at the f7 snopro, if i let ride this i'll never get it back! ( keep in mind that in my opinion that f7 snopro was the best cat had to offer in 05) so off we go and true to form i lost the new f-1000 the rest of the day. this sled is soooo well mannered that it will putt putt at low speeds and at will pull on your arms almost out of there sockets at any point in the throttle range just by slapping the throttle. one thing to mention was the fuel mileage, we recorded almost 16 mpg.

THE UGLY : mon. morning ride starts out that niether one of us wants to ride the firecat and i,m hoping never to see it again. (kinda rough talk about the firecat but one ride on the new f- series and you'll know what i'm talking about) we did manage to play nice and switch on and off but for most of the day i let her ride it and i pounded away on the f7.(keep in mind that we do things together and without her none of this would be possible) the ugly saga continues after the riding was over, niether one of us wants to return riding next trip without a new f-series chassis. mon. night return the f-1000lxr (man that was difficult) and started talking about our options, looks like a pair of f-8lxr's in green for the next trip.

CLOSING: i would like to thank randy and robin from exit 9 motorsports hartland VT.( or should i now faced the cost of two f-8lxr's) the bottom line is the new f-series are that damn good and it truely is a heartbreaker for cat to put soooo much time in these new offerings and get the lack off snow we've had. i feel bad for those guys. i did'nt bring up the look of the sleds, it has been beaten to death and i think some improvement would be nice. while riding the f-series i was trying to figure out how i best describe it and i remembered a old arctic cat cover and the logo read " world class snomobiles" these new f's truly are world class. good job arctic cat

Cathog........You better keep that F1000 in the garage, I heard that you got beat twice with a 05 MachZ. I also, heard that the Z reach speeds of 116 mph, and your sled didn't hit 100 mph it only did 98 mph..??? And also heard that the F Chassis still needs alot of work and it will never ride better than a Rev chassis..

But with all that gossip I heard Cathog, I believe you on what you have to say about the new F chassis. That is the reason why I will never go riding with you know who ever again I will dirt ride again before I go, since that was the last trip I took. What irritates me about riding with Ski-Doo fans is what you have for a sled is nothing but junk unless its a Ski-Doo, it just can't be a good time riding together.

P.S. I am looking for a Firecat chassis travel cover for my sled, can you hook me up on one?[/b]
we had a great time riding and even more fun back at the rental house, the verbal sparring between brands keeps things exciting and it's just for fun anyways, the f-1000 is a fast sled and it most likely would'nt beat a mach z stock for stock, the chassis in my opinion is better then a rev and better suited to taller riders. as far as the power, it's a rocket up to 100 mph and ran very well in the 660 feet runs against the mach, about two sled lengths, the main thing is we put on two miles on the lake and 90 miles on the trails and thats whats most important to me. you can ride these new sleds all day and still want to keep riding when others are ready to surrender. i can't wait for a f-8
