You can try a search for bad stators. You can ohm yours out to find out if it is going out I think. Both stator problems that I have had have just crapped out on me. The first one left me dead on the trail with no spark or warning and the second one just fell apart and touched the flywheel. I did buy a used one off this site from a member and he thought it was off of a carbed model but I think it was off an EFI model cause the 3 bolt pattern doesn't line up on mine. So, if you need a new stator I know where you could get one. Find that thread on stators and you should be able to diagnose the problem. good luck
