Loosen the lock nut up at the top of the shift rod. Detach the bottom of the shift rod from the shift arm down at the transmission. Rotate the shift rod clockwise to reduce the length of the throw, counter clockwise to increase the length of throw. Go in increments. Don't make too many rotations of the shift rod. The amount of throw you either increase or decrease will have a fair amount of effect at the shift arm. Make an adjustment then go test it. Once you have it dialed in, tighten the lock nut and re-assemble the shift rod to the shift arm. Put some grease on the bushing while you're at it. Good luck.
