Mine was never cross threaded, it just seemed to be backed out all the way.

Lined up my pilot hole with one of the adjuster holes on the spring retainer-- there is no pressure put onto the spring retainer. The bolt simply acts as an anti-rotation device.

I drilled and tapped for a 1/4"NC cap screw, used blue loctite.
Initial preset for myself was 0.500"- from outer cover to the little raised lip on the retainer.

Ground various lengths of anti-rotation bolts in 0.050" increments for the tool kit.

Put just over 300kms on the sled this week- all seems well.
