My seats ripping near the back so I ordered a new seat cover but I have no clue how to remove my seat so I can remove the old cover and staple the new one on. I really would prefer not to remove the tank if I don't have to. So if anyone could let me know how to do so that would be great!

The seat cover is stapled to the gas tank.
take of the console,
un hook the fuel lines
remove the 2 nuts in the trunk
lift the rear of the seat enough to unplug the tail light (connector is about half way to the front)
lift assy off the sled

I believe the tank and seat base are all one piece on that model!

Does the gas tank need to be empty to do this?

nope.. just not 100% full
