I have a minor dilema with my recoil. I removed it a couple years back since the rope broke...simple enough. Well I didn't want to install the bottom bolt again, as it is a pain to remove, and I broke the top bolt. It was then held on by 2 bolts. The recoil broke yet again. There is only 1 bolt left holding on, and I currently have it clamped tight with a vise-grip.

Anyway, my question. Can the housing the recoil attaches to be removed? I think it's called the magneto housing..? If possible, I'd like to be able to pull that housing off, and drill out the bolts I broke off, tap it, then install a new recoil assembly.

Sled is a '98 ZR 600 efi...if it matters...

Thank you much!

youve got the right idea but try an easy out if you can then you won't have to retap the holes. impact screwdriver thing might help to break corrosion loose so they back out or use a hammer and punch to jar before using easy out good luck!
