Hello All,

During the routine gear oil change, nticed the rear drveshaft boot is torn (boot on joint at engine). I see the boot kit is available, as is the shaft kit. yesterday I pulled the four flange bolts out of the shaft, but then ha to deal with snowblowing. My question is, does the shaft just slide out of the rear pinion splines, or is there a retaining clip? I looked in the service manual, but it did not specify removal of the shaft at all.

Anyone have experience with the ACT rears?

Drive shaft slides of the spline. You will have to take the bolts out of the suspension link bars and shocks to move the axle back.

Thanks, Shaft came right out, cleaned up nice. I ordered the 3435-066 boot kit from local dealer and had it in two days. Upon reassembly, the small band clamp broke at the spotweld. A quick trip to NAPA for an adjustable crimp ear type had everything back in order.
