my buddy has a 99 zl 600 it has ryde fx shocks on it .he bought a new rear shock for the skid .my question is the shock is easier to push together than it is to pull apart is this correct or should it be the other way around?my cat shocks and my fox shocks were all the way exdended and hard to push together im a little confused and dont want to put it back together till i know if this is correct

The shock is definitely bad. Did your buddy get another RydeFX or did he at least get an ACT or a Fox rebuildable one?

The new shock will go right in. The fox shocks extend out alittle farther out , then the ryde fx.

I did the same thing over the summer with mine, the old shock was hard to get out , but the new one went right in.

I also tried this on another ZL, but replaced the ryde fx shock, with a new fox rebuildable shock, and it was very hard to get back in, the shock had to be compressed alittle , then lined up with the mounting holes, where as the ryde fx lit in just right.

I still use the fox shock without any problems, over 2000 miles on that shock.
