How many people here dune their Prowlers?? I see alot of mud and rock Prowlers, but not many Duners. I only see a couple each time I go to the dunes.[/b]
Yep - Glamis every few weeks or so.

If you do dune your Prowler, I have a couple questions....Does anyone run paddles?? I think I am going to put some 25" paddles on the rear only.[/b]
Nope - everyone I talk to says paddles without more power aren't going to help....

I still cannot make it up some of the popular drag hills yet. Has anyone had their clutches machined?? I have a guy who wants to do mine for about $100. I heard he gets 60+ mph out the prowlers. I just need to see if it also helps low end and mid range. My prowler only does about 45 on pavement and 40 on sand.[/b]
That sounds about right - you are running oversized tires right? I can make it up Oldsmobile if I stick to the far left. The Rhinos beat me up there easily. Hoping the new cluctch will correct this situation!

It seems to me that the Rhino's I race uphill seem to keep pulling longer than my Prowler. It may be the weight of the cage, stereo etc. I also heard from Delmar at KD Cycle in Yuma that exhausts don't help the prowler. I don't know, but he claims he has been pretty tight with AC during many testing runs of the prowler in the dunes. He seems to know what he is talking about. I also found out he makes Long Travel Kits, Heavy duty Tie Rod Kits, Big Bore kits, and all kinds of stuff I never knew existed for the Prowlers. Anyways...I'm rambling now.[/b]
I know a guy who builds sandrails and he has worked his Prowler over and it runs circles around most Rhinos now. He just machined his clutch last week and this will be the first trip to the dunes. But remember a machined clutch like that only helps your top speed. Are you hitting the rev limiter? If you are, machining the clutch won't help. You need a CDI, clutch work (springs, rollers) and more power! (don't we all)
I just put in the speedwerx clutch kit and this will be my first dune trip with it. It sure runs different on the pavement, but I'll have to wait till it gets in the sand before I know if it has compensated for my oversized ITR mudlites. bang your head

I have the same problems as you, same tires and I have changed the carb and CDI to the ones from the 650H1 quad with not much change. I too have changed my exhaust and went back to the stock unit because I felt no change in performance whatsoever.
Who is machining the clutches and how? I was told the speedwerx clutch was a waste of money but the EPI clutch kit actually made difference.
Keep us posted on what your results are good or bad.
