I purchased an aftermarket front outer CV boot for my 2000 Arctic Cat 500 4X4 (green manual transmission). I have removed the old boot and installed the new boot, however I am having a problem with the large clamp keeping the new boot on the outer CV housing. On the inner CV housing there is a nice recessed grove for the large clamp to rest in and this works nicely, but the outer CV housing doesn't have this groove, there is only a raised shoulder and every time I clamp it down it won't stay on the housing and slides over this shoulder. Any advice?

Is the new boot identical in length and circumstance as the old one? If it’s larger diameter it will never clamp down properly and if it’s too short you could be stretching it to fit. The outer boot is installed in a “relaxed” state meaning not pushed together or stretched on installation. Can I ask what brand and part number you used?

you also have to make sure their is no grease on the surfaces or it will slip right off when clamped...
