On a tip I found a guy who had a bunch of panthers in his front yard who told me he had a late 60's NOS "Big" hood. Sure enough he had a dusty NOS pre 70's hood. It wasn't the big mouth hood I expected to see but a standard style hood. He said it was for the "big engine". I deal with mostly early 70's cat parts so not super knowledgeable with this style but was able to negotiate a failure price and brought it home. Compared to a early seventy hood it is taller. Some Cat friends said it was a standard hood and that they all were taller in the 60's. I wasn't 100% convinced so went looking on line. I Did find a picture of a 68 P35 that looks bigger but real hard to tell from a picture. The one I picked up measures 18.5" high at windshield deck and 9" high from base in front corner.
Question is; is this a standard hood or a taller one for the 600 Hirth?

yes there are bigger hoods for the bigger engines. my 70 puma 760 hood is taller than a 70 puma 634 hood, so maybe they did the same for 69. Thats a rare piece ya got there.
