Seeing that Textron just bought Arctic Cat and some models will be renamed Arctic Cats, feedback on past Arctic Cat ATV's is welcome as well. If you own a past model that is still being produced or uses the same engine/drive train as your model and you want somethings addressed, post away. I have no idea if Textron is reading these threads, but if they are, your voice or opinion might help.

OK, as far as I know, and I hope the 700 H1 will be made for a long time, so my biggest complaint: The stock air box is way too big and too complicated. I adjusted my valves today, had to remove the air box. Removing it requires nearly removing the front plastics. I realize, a lot of thought went into the design to make it quiet, but it's way overly restrictive and a big mess, imho. I'm going to replace with either a UNI or a K&N. A small K&N crank case breather and relocate AIT sensor into new air filter. Glad I took it to my mechanic to adjust valves, I would still be there with bloody knuckles. He did it in 1 hour.
Not product related technically but hopefully they read it. They need to get some control on both their dealers and their customer support. They have lost a customer for life due to the dealers poor attitude after i quit dumping money on new machines, denying warranty among other things. When contacted AC at the time my concerns went unanswered..

A good dealer is such a plus when buying any RV. Years ago I had a stand alone Cat dealer and they were the best. They were bought out by a huge company with 21 different product lines from Aprilla cycles to Yamaha ski-doo, honda etc. While they are a good dealer, I find their service dept to be below par. Good mechanics are hard to find. Seems like I knew more than the mechanic working on my quad and I dont charge myself $100 per hour.

True true... the last time I had work done at my cat dealer it cost me over double of what it cost me to have the same work done on the same machine at our can am dealer....

Can am dealers are no better in Calgary in fact worse.
Did Textron begin producing Artic Cats in the 2017 or 2018 Model year? I bought my Alterra 500 TRV from Bass Pro as a left over 2017 and it has Artic Cat on the front rack while the 2018s had Textron.
You read so many posts about battery issues on here. A source for better batteries, even from current supplier, for all their products may help. This would come at a price as we will for sure pay more for the product.

660 catman, the Arctic Cat battery that I bought for my old 400 was made in Taiwan, probably for Kymco. For $44 it has been great. Crazy that they had to import, but...

I was thinking that they "cheaped" out on production batteries in recent years. I got 11 seasons out of my Arctic Cat AGM battery in my 4 stroke sled.
Not Textron related: But, as an example, I prepped a Yam Venture yesterday, the new battery, following normal acid add procedure, followed up by letting acid settle, then charging at 3.0-5.0 ah rate for the 30 minutes recommended, showed only a 5% "battery life" remaining, while showing a 100% "state of charge" and 12.36 VDC according to our Midtronics 404XL micro-test unit............. It called for battery replacement (so I did)

This is getting ridiculous throughout this industry...!

Change the name back to arctic cat

They never should have changed the name on the off road vehicles. Arctic Cat is a well known name north or south. After watching the DirtTrax interview having a “less regional” brand name is dumb... All they needed to do was better marketing if they wanted to sell more to the south.

Textron Atv's by Arctic Cat or even better-Arctic Cat Atv's by textron

Still a Arctic Cat decal is affordable and applies easily.

Anybody know what changes Textron made to the Alterra atvs? Just bought a 2018 model 150 for my son and the dealer said they changed a lot between the 2017 and 2018 models. It wasn't until I got home, I realized I didn't get an owner's manual. Called the dealer and Textron and both said they would send me a hard copy and email one but 2 weeks have passed and I got nothing yet. Found and downloaded a 2017 manual online but if changes were made, how do i know I am servicing it correctly. The dealer is a 2 hour drive so I want to do as much service as possible myself. So far not too impressed with Textron.
Is it not under the seat ?
