Travelled an hour to Old Forge this morning to check out the Sno-Fest. All the 2008 models of all the major 4 WERE to be there. Brought my camera ready for some pics and had planned on posting them here when I got home.

All the Ski-Doos are wild looking and VERY light. They had a bunch of booths and were giving away free junk as was the Polaris booth and the Yamaha booth.

Well...............Artic Cat was NOWHERE to be found. Nothing........... there were HUNDREDS of people checking out these new 2008 sleds and there were a NO Arctic Cat stuff anywhere.

I talked with numerous Arctic Cat people like me who were PISSED.

The Ski-Doo people were very cordial asking us if we had any questions etc. and were really nice people.

I must say, in the last several years, I have lost an immense amount of respect for Arctic Cat and if it weren't for the Firecat series, I would have switched. Today only made it worse.

Helluva marketing job guys................

Perhaps they were somewhere else on their '08 tour?? Still, it's not a good thing that they had ZERO presence there. Come on, marketing is every bit as important as having a quality product these days. Especially now that the manufacturers are kicking out new tech & new iron left and right.

I swear BRP's marketing team is more talented than their engineering...

That is bad news, we thought about going up to check them out this weekend, but didn't go, now I am kind of glad..I would have really been angry after being told they would have a few sleds there.

Wonder why Cat would miss an oppertunity to showcase their sleds??

According to that information it sure looks like they never planned on attending.

I heard from a few local Cat dealers that they would be there, looks like a few others also expected them.

It’s too bad because Verona is only where they have an indoor show at the casino.

Old forge is a hand’s on drive and try... I think with the great riding f series I would want everybody to try it first hand if I was Cat.

I believe they missed a huge opportunity for people who have heard the negatives from some of the 800 and 1000 owner’s that weren’t happy, this might have been a chance for redemption to showcase the improvements they have made for 2008 on the 8 and 1000….

I am currently shopping for a second machine as we have sold my wife’s doo, as a perspective buyer I would have liked my wife to be able to try a few sleds that we are interested in side by side under the same conditions.

Certainly agree with your statements above. Not alot of dealers are willing to let us explore the sleds before final purchase.

After checking out the Crossfire 800 SP, F8 and the Z1 myself at Brodner's Demo show a few weeks ago gave me an clear insight of what XF, F or Z1's capability in performance and suspension ride. Now, It got me all clarified on the XF's, F's and Z1's Pro and Con. I choose XF over F and Z1 cuz I know what my body wants out of 100-200 miles a day's worth of riding.

I'm not going to pay for a sled when you can't even ride one first.
Ski Doo has their XP all over. I got to ride that (only went 2mi out of the way)
The above list is for static displays only (can't ride them in Albany NY )
I did get to ride a F6 for about 40 miles and they are awesome (better than a XP IMO).
But it took over a week of messing around to get it right (suspension adjustments and carbides).
I would think AC would be showing them when ever they can so people can ride them
and know what they are about. They are the best trail sled made IMO.
They are not the lightest or the fastest acrossed the lake. But in the trails they are
unbelievable. I think that with a F-6 you could out run anyone on a nice beat and bumpy trail,
probably could do it with a F-5 or Z1 too. I don't think a XP 800 would keep up in the trails with any of
the F series sleds. I could be wrong but I ride a ZR600 and trails that I could go 50 on you could go as fast as you wanted on a F-6. (top end I think my ZR may even be faster). Was riding with a worked ZR 900 and could easily run away from him with the F-6 (so could his wife). It just handles that good.

But with that being said AC is killing themselves by not getting people on them. The XP 800R that I rode was in the back of a truck the guy showed up unloaded and started taking waviers and letting people ride it. They didn't say how long or far or how fast...It was on a small sno-X track and you could jump it if you wanted it didn't matter. I was in sweats with someone elses helmet. If AC had 50 F-6 or F-8 in the back of trucks driving around and getting people on thier sleds they would sell sleds.
People would ride them and say wow. As for now you don't even see them on the trails (I saw 2 in about 1200 miles). The local dealer here has sold one F1000 and I think that is the only F sled to go out his door. He does have an impressive pile of boxes though. Good Marketing AC.

BOTH my local dealers said they would be there and it was on the radio that they would be there. There were hundreds of people there expecting AC to be there.

Be that as it may, it's PATHETIC that the other "3" were there in the snowmobile capital of the northeast and AC was not.

If you don't think the other "3" aren't showing at other places at the same time, you're mistaken.....and why can't AC be there on March 17 (in Old Forge NY) and only have to travel 100 miles to Verona NY by March 21??????? LAME. No excuses.

This isn't up for debate - it's a total lost opportunity marketing-wise for AC. It's sad when people from the other 3 were mocking AC for not being there citing the problems with the F-series on top of it all. I know, I was there.

I have to agree they missed a huge opportunity!
I go to the Snodeo in Northern NH every year the 1st weekend in March. The line for the demo rides for AC used to be huge. The last couple of years, AC has held its dealer meeting/product unveiling the 2nd weekend in March, instead of the end of February like they used to. Now you're lucky to ride 1 or 2 new sleds and the rest are all the current model year. There wasn't even an F1000 that you could ride. Needless to say, there weren't many people in the AC demo ride line. There wasn't even an AC factory rep there this year (used to be at least 2).
The Doo line, on the other hand was about 50 people long and the Yami line was pretty long as well.
Poo line didn't look too long, but I don't believe they had yet released their 2008 line up either.

Cat,

You should have used your brain and attend to this event to show off your products and plus to prove that you products are the best riding and handling in the industry. This could really pitch your market share and sales too. I hope that Cat Inc really learn there lesson for not attending this event. Please wise up and show up and show us customers and snowmobilers that you are tough and the best.

I am very impressed with the way the Ford are doing to show off there products by doing challenge. Cat maybe you could do something like this?

Please move forward and BOLD not backwards.

Dusty

Yes, I went and seen the New Cats in Regina yesterday... they are AWESOME!!!

It still would be nice to ride them all though, Cat should really pull their head out of their ass on this kind of thing. This is why Ski-Doo is #1.

PS. I'll still be ordering a new Cat, but if they want to get new customer they will have to start going that extra mile!

Dewalt: How did the F6 work out for you? You just have it nicely broken in. What do you want one of those Z1's for? What was your mileage and range like with the F6? Any problems?

Actually I loved my F6. I would average probably 13-14mpg. I seen as high as 16.5mpg with the wife driving it and as low as 10mpg with me driving the snot out of it!! Range I'm not that sure of cause we are never more then 50 miles away from gas, and I fill up everytime I see a gas station just because you never know what can happen when you're out riding. If I were to guess, I would say at least 120 miles driving average.

I just really thought it would be time to get into a 4-stroke, I had test rode the early edition last year and really liked it, but didn't want to spend the extra $3000.00 to get it at that time. Now that they offer it with a bigger track and the fox floats I was pretty pumped. But like I said, I didn't really test the Jag a lower speeds when I rode it. The sound didn't really bug me, I actually kind of liked it.

Now you have me concerned....... I wish some of the Jag owners would come address some of these questions.
