i have a 1991 EXT 530 and it has been really boggy lately (i think its just a worn out clutch), but i was riding yesterday. i was hitting drifts with my brother and he had a 1989 wildcat 650 and i came down from one and got stuck. so i'm not sure if some thing got wet but he said when i was riding it today that when i pinned it he could see a small amount of light from the headlight. it runs fine, idles really low, but always starts. HELP! this sled is my baby (first sled i rode) and i wanna get my "pretty kitty" running like a top again! oh by the way its emergency shut off switch is broke off, but we have rode it that way since my uncle bought it.

check your wires something may have came loose.?

3 things to check:

1. AC output of lighting coil - 2 yellow wires
2. Voltage regulator
3. Bad or corroded ground wire(s)

Not necessarily in that order, but start with #1.

i don't know if it makes a difference but the key still works, i don't use the kill switch cause the button is broke. ill check it out today though I dunno

i found out what it was, under the motor there are some wires that go to the gauges and they wore through, grounding on the motor mount. put some cardboard on it and just like new, sorta. also during this i found a crack in my chain case, so i will be doing a vintage snocross mod sled this summer! Cat happy
