I just pciked up a new 07 650H1 yesterday and I have a couple of questions for you 650H1 owners.

Does this model have a tach? Read the owners manual and played with the digital pod and I still can't figure out if it has one or not?

The left side engine cover, are all three tabs on the bottom of the cover supposed to fit in the holes along the bottom plastic body cover? Seems to be a real pain to get this cover on and off.

Thanks for the information and I am sure I will have more questions.

Congratulations on your new H1 purchase! Mine is an '05, so it doesn't have side covers, and the instrument pod is different also. Someone will be along shortly to answer your questions.

OK I give up, what is the trick to get the tab to fit in the bottom front hole? The dealer has the tab behind the bottom cover and not in the front hole, the other 2 tabs are in the holes. I can't get it to fit either and I don't want to push it and break off the tab.

Thanks

Don't have an H1, but would assume the panels are the same as on my brothers 07 500. When we picked his bike up the dealer was explaining what a pain the left cover was and said they normally cut that tab off, he asked my brother and he said sure, so the dealer cut it off right then and there. I didn't know there was 2 other tabs but I believe this one was right at the bottom of the cover. Dealer said it makes it much easier, but I guess it's all down to personal preference.

Cheers,
Aaron

That's the one. My tab has a little lip at the bottom of it almost like a hook. It will not fit into the hole. I guess I can file the lip off or widen the hole. The tab also seems to be offset towards the back that is how it is fitting behind the hole and body panel.

Thanks

:Bangin: Ha I just picked up a H1 as well and I have to laugh because I was having the same problem with my tab, and have thought about making the hole a little larger. I wish there was a tach built in there somewhere.

dont cut the tab completely off! if you take off that panel and look at the tab, you will see that it is like a L shape. meaning the tab goes down and then it bends out to hook. i took a razer blade and cut the L part to make it just come down like a I. if that makes sense?? that was it would still slide into the hole to make it a little bit more stable!

Damn those fasteners! I had the same problem with mine, I too flex the middle and put that one in first, goes in everytime! with the help of some choice swear words! I wish they had a tach as well...

My tab was a pain too. One day after messing with it for about 30 sec. trying to get it in the hole I just grabbed it and ripped it off. Now I can have the whole panel on in about 5 sec. Doesn't rattle and it still fits nice and tight.

do yourself a favor and get the pull start kit. it list for $120 and comes with a new side panel that is easier to deal with. my dealer gave me the kit with the bike. i just had to let them order it and wait. they even installed it for free.
