Hey guy my buddy has a 06 mack z 1000 and he is losing about a inch from the bottle every hour he rides. We changed the head gasket last week hoping it was the problem but it wasn't. Would anyone have any idea where the antifreeze is going? We checked all hoses, heat exchangers and found no signs of leaks. We are thinking it may be leaking at the base gasket and we are probably going to start pulling the motor apart tonight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! I told him he should have bought a cat!!!!lol

Check at the bottom of the water pump. Feel for antifreeze with you fingers. There's a weep hole down there where it will leak if one of the water pump seals is bad. My sled did exactly the same thing. Lost a 1/2 to 1 inch in the bottle every time I rode it. I had a dealer rebuild the pump for $250. They replaced both seals and impeller. A decent home mechanic can do it for less than half that. You may have to tip the engine back to pull out the impeller. They did with mine.
