After its warmed up and idling, flip the choke on for a moment or two. If the engine dies right away or gets worse, you're too rich; if the engine speeds up, you're too lean.
Sounds like you are on the right track then. Its a pain, but the best way to do it, is to go one size at a time until you find which one makes it run the best, so put a #35 in and see how it goes.
