I was out on the 93 T-cat. Noticed my tach was working fine, minutes later it was reading nothing. I turned on the high beam on the light switch and the tach came back to life, worked perfect and continued to be fine. Came to a stop, switched to low beam and it worked fine again, then lost it again. Came back to life with the high beam on. Also lost the heated grip light on the dash periodically, it would flicker.

Sound like a loose connection problem? I rattled all the wires around and nothing seemed to change.

Bad ground?

Are all these problems related?

Any suggestions or ideas?

A short in your wiring could do that. Usual suspects are under the seat wiring, under the jackshaft or around the steering post. My theory on this, is once it's shorted it basically sucks all the current away from the rest of your electrical accessories an there just isn't enough current going elsewhere to make them function. The tachometer actually reads the frequency of the the AC power being produced by your stator.
