Hey everyone, I have a 2005 500 auto 4x4. I had some pretty bad kick back on start up a while back that broke the case and the cover. I had it welded but that weld didn't hold and again had a kickback issue that broke it. I have since had it welded again and swapped out the starter idler gear for one from a 99 500. On occasion I get a "clunk" on shutdown that sounds like a mild kickback. I expected that idler gear to slip if that happens but it doesn't sound like it is (or I just don't know what to listen for). Should I be concerned about this clunk I'm hearing on shutdown causing more damage or is it just not enough to cause the idler gear to slip? It doesn't happen at every shut down and doesn't seem to matter if it is in gear or neutral.
