What is the furthest that you have reached out, had lunch, and got back before the day is done? Is there a distance record based on a this really good snowmobile day?

The current 24 hour distance record (1907 miles) involves going in circles on a lake, starting one day, finishing the next day on a different machine. I have great respect for this but it is not what we do.

I propose a record that is not just about going fast in circles but also about navigating our great trail system.

I will start the topic by stating my personnel best - 225 miles. What is your best day?

My best was 330 miles before mid afternoon. I was riding with a bud up in the UP and saw the phone had received a message while in a dead area. Checked the message when we could find service and found out my brother was coming to meet us at the hotel with his rig. Quickly called him to see where he was at on the drive up, and he was the same number of miles out as we were with the sleds.

It was a fast ride back.:biggrin_old: But we had to see if we could be there first. It was almost ironic that we covered the same miles with the extra gas stops and stop signs while on our sleds in nearly the same amount of time it took him while driving the highway. We made good time and the sleds and his rig arrived within 5 minutes of each other. I hate to admit it though, he was first.

We rode another 25 and back after that just to get a bite. The day ended up with 380 before dark.

My personal best is 330 miles in the UP. But I have a friend that rode from Minneapolis to International Falls and back in a day (24 hours) About 750 miles.
I talked your friend Luke into it - it was my dream. We went from north metro to I Falls and back on a Friday. Goggle Elk River to International Falls... Wait for video. The number I am proud of is 225 miles straight line distance.

425 Miles in the UP in one day. My wife and I left from Gwinn and did a clockwise loop over through Crystal Falls up through Houghton, stopped for lunch at the Library, looped through Big Bay and then back down to Gwinn. Took us 13 hours and my wife had fun - what a trooper!:thumbguy:
