I just picked up a 1974 295 El Tigre with about 700 miles. I have removed the seat, fuel lines etc...but, want to know how the gas tank comes off. It looks as though you just slide it out, but I wanted to ask the forum to confirm it. I didn't want to push it hard and break/dent something if there is a bolt holding it on. My intentions are to send it to TriCity Plating (Tennesse) to get it chrome plated. The tank is perfect and I dont' want to dent it. It came black, but I love the chrome look.

Any advice on a chrome plating company would also be appreciated should you have had a good experience.

Thanks for the advice!!

Thanks Gregg,

I thought it was something simple, but didn't want to damage the tank trying to force it. Thanks for the response!!

Just so you know 74 had black tanks and 73 had chrome. The EXT's have Lighting bolts on the tank I seen them either chrome or black.

I went the same way as you with my 75 Eltigre.

I have a EXT tank on it because I liked the lightening bolts. My sled...my way.
