Well I finaly felt good enough to get some seat time and was out today with my 12Yr. old son. And we crossed a winter wheat field and I stoped to cross a back contry road and I looked back at him and he was about 200 to 300 yards behind me so I waited and the next thing I knew I was going over the hood ( I was standing ) here he didn't stop and rear ended me luckly no one was hurt but man was I p*ssed. He said that he just wasn't paying attention to me. so needless to say I need a hood for the 99 ZL 440 as for the M5 luckly no damage he hit me hard enough to lift the sled off the ground , My rear bumper was in his headlight. But like I told him I wasn't upset that he hit me acc. happen. I was upset because you weren't paying attention to what you were doing and what was around you. so if anyone has a 99ZL hood let me know.

A local dealer has a brand new ZL 600 hood. They ordered it for a guy who never picked it up. They want $350 for it. BRAND NEW....

Well Don I wonder if he is actually old enough to be on that ZL, I remember your earlier post.
Glad everyone is OK, this will make him pay attention a lil more next time.
Can't imagine what would of happened had he gone out for a lil rip by himself!!!

after I was done fliping on him and made him ride it home with a broken hood he only wants to ride in the field that joins the yard on the Puma 340 fan. I think he realized what could of really happened. He knows that I wasn't upset that he hit me :turd: happens. I was highly upset that he wasn't paying attention to what he was doing and what was around him.

I asked him if he had learned anything from it. His reply was yes don't hit your sled you freak to much so time will tell. I'm just glad he wasn't hurt by hitting the handlebars but man do my legs hurt from hitting mine while going over the hood.

Man, I am glad he is ok. makes me think about my kids, I am just starting to let them drive the t660 touring in some fields and on lakes by themselves. Maybe I should stay on the back!
As a parent if they ever hurt themselves you wouldn't forgive yourself.

At first I felt the same way but then I figured that sooner or later they where going to do it so at least I was with them, but in a way I'm glad he hit me and not someone else.

The way to really make sure he learned his lesson................make him pay for the repairs!

Always found that the pocketbook hurts more than pride.....particularly with kids!

You don't know what pride is till you have kids of your own!

Sorry to hear about the sled....good thing both of you are OK.

Hopefully he learns a lesson this time, I almost did the same thing with my X-fire a few weeks ago, thank god for studs, I was able to stop with inches to spare before my front end hit...

glad to hear that your both OK, sounds like your going to be able to fix your sled, I remember reading your post about your decision to give your boy the bigger sled, I know I supported that decision and still do, I just hope that this will be a real learning experience for him, both of you could be have been seriously hurt, maybe the monetary setback will be something that will help him to realize that with more power comes more responsibility, a little bit of time in the field next to the house riding the smaller sled will help him to understand that you need to pay attention all the time to your surroundings and your riding partners, good luck Dog

yeah, **** happens; like today i snapped the peak of my new helmet in half, oh im ok, but the front of the helmets all chipped and i have to buy a new peak.
