My 2009 500 4x4 atv idles really high at start. Tried fuel stabilizer but did not help the problem. Also tried adjusting throttle cable and that did not help either. Would turning the rpm adjustment lower solve the problem? Any ideas would help. Thanks.
Like doorfx said check the intake boot first. I don't think the 500's came with EFI so I would say you need to clean the carb. Over time they will get crap inside and plug the jets and whatnot. By cleaning it I don't mean just spraying carb cleaner in through the throttle plate, you have to remove the carb and fully disassemble it and cleaning all of the parts and checking the float height. I wish I would've took pics of my carb when I cleaned and rejeted it. Fuel let sitting over time will gum up and leave crap throughout the inside of the carb. Running a fuel system cleaner will only do so much but much less if the carbs super dirty.
