They look like fun.
They are race only right now. My guess is meeting the snowmobile standards has been difficult

Not sure where you are from but in Wisconsin they are not gonna have a choice, if it's manufactured as a snowmobile, you can register and ride it.

Michigans DNR says they will not be allowed on any snowmobile trail.
I rode one at the dealer show. Its different for sure. all reports are that its awesome in the mountains, and off trail, but its def not for everyone
Couple of guys had something like these during the Eagle River races last year and we were following them for about a mile then passed them. They look chalengine, you definitely have pay more attention than on a sled. But for around here's in tight trails like we have they are just too slow. Like you said out west might be something. My first trip out there is next year, Cooke City, lookin forward to it
snow bikes and or snow bike kit's not legal yet if ever in michigan lot's of peeps no likey rippin up the groom. all for single or quad trail use but not on groomed trail system. we will see how it if it ever does shake out no quads with tracks allso so far
If arctic cat ships it with an MSO that states its a snowmobile, then they will have to register it as a snowmobile. same here in NY.

kits are a totaly different story, as the reg would be for the machine the kit is installed on, ie bike, quad, sxs etc
hope you are back "in the snow " ya it's gonna be a hard sell many people around here are not buying in most 20 yr old guys want em but dont have money so we'll see how it goes im a dirt biker but have no interest in a cold ride as long as it dont ruin it for snowmobilers and the groomed system cool

I dont think those will be 'ruining the groomed system', if that is what people are worried about.

AC is planning on using a Sherco 450 that puts out less than 60hp; and it will also use a Camso track that is 12.5x129. This combo will not be damaging to the trails.

In comparision a Yamaha Phazer puts out 80hp and pushes a 14x121 track. Nobody is complaining that the Phazer is ripping up the trails.

Well, Cody Thomsen wins the championship here, unfortunately he beat out my co-worker for the championship. But it was a good run.

A phazer has two skis and is a legitimate snowmobile. This is a dirtbike with a track kit, it is not a snowmobile, it should not be thought of as a snowmobile. And with being able to lean one over in a corner, it will damage a trail, and tear it up.

Just having a manual trans makes it more likely to tear the trails up.
