Wife and I finally got to ride our 2016 ZR 7000 137 Limiteds on Saturday.

She is coming from a 500 and me from an 800HO. For her the power is night and day and she is....Cat happy.

I was worried I was going to miss my 800HO, but I DONT. I could not be happier with the Yamaha Triple. The Clutch engagement and Power hit is instant and feels strong. I ride trails with my wife 99% of the time and ride 0-70mph and IMO this is a Perfect Trail Sled if you just cruise trails and want an occasional power rush. I am sure my occasional Lake Runs I will miss the HO, but I do that so infrequently anyway.

We were also wondering how the suspension would feel compared to our Twin Spars and we both felt they were more comfortable and soaked up the bumps better.
==============

Minor issues:

-The Green one is back at the dealer because it kept blowing the Fan Fuse.
-The Black one had a coolant leak and I had to remove all the body panels to track down and tighten before we even hit the trails.

Couldn't agree more. Had mine out last weekend and very impressed with power. Suspension is a little stiff but will loosen up.

Did sled overheat or did you just not hear the fan kick on and off?

Only complaint is windshield throws air right into my hands. Hand guards fixed that though.

Both....I never heard the Fan on the Green one and at the end of the day it was idling and threw the coolant temp code and shut down. I let it cool down and then rode it a few miles back to the trailer. I took it apart the next morning and checked it out. The Fan Fuse was blown, so I replaced it with one of the spares, but the Fan still never came on and it creeped up to 220 so I shut it down and dropped it off at the dealer.

If I remember correctly the Fan on the Black one came on around 200.

Fan went out on my carry over 2014 XF7000ltd last season. Still could ride, but had to keep moving. Never shut down, but went into limp mode twice. Love the sled! Really itching to get out more. Less than 500 miles to date. Disappointing that fans are still failing 2 years later.

Good to know. I'm hearing it click on and off when shutting down or starting up. These four strokes definitely run warm though. Second day out was better since temps were high teens. Hope you get your sled back soon.

seems they never tighten the clamps fully...or i guess heat cycling causes them to leak likely as well. I agree the 7000 is awesome...decent mpg and great low end and mid range pull.

coming from a 2011 f8 ext, first thing I notice was heavy steering slow and mid speeds- so much so I am going to raise rear of skid up in tunnel and try to take some weight off front. power wise I am happy with how it runs. will be tinkering with it over next few days now that we have snow and see how I make out

I share your enthusiasm for the 7000. My 7000 makes it easy to put on the miles. Today 265 miles. Yesterday 300 miles. 11k on the on the odometer. It has treated me well with no problems at my expense. Maintenance cost has been good. Carbides, slides and skid frame wheels, that's about it. Skid frame wheels have had good life including the Tri-Hub. Original belt has only .030 inch wear. I still smile when I push the throttle.

what kind of MPG you guys getting? I rode with my wife the other week and was around 16. I just rode 300 miles pretty hard and was closer to 12. Guess I can't complain about that but was curious to what others were getting.

Dealer replaced the Fan and the green one is all set now.

We had the chance to put about 100 miles on them on Saturday and still only complaint is we have to drive 3.5 hours North to find enough snow to ride them!!!

MPG. I get around 12-14 depending on how I feel like riding. My wife is easier on the throttle and probably sees 14ish.

What kind of speed are you guys getting out your sleds? I was pulling 92mph last weekend but only getting 83mph now. Almost identical conditions. I haven't taken it in for 500 mile check yet so wondering if they need to adjust the clutch or just getting lucky past weekend. Low to mid power is still awesome though.

Hits hard low to mid till around 65 then starts petering off. Buddy of mine has a 800 Etec and i beat him off the line till around 150' then he blows by me. I consistently was hitting 90-92 last week end but the pig wont go past 82 today. Snow was a bit looser today and little warmer out but shouldn't effect it that much. Did some more research after initial post and 80-90 is pretty normal for this sled without clutch work. All in all I love the 7000 though.

79 out of a turbo sled? wow, thought it would be more.

Taking a buddy to look at a '16 zr 7000 limited/137" this week with only 400 miles on it. I'm running a 2020 Yamaha SRVIPER GT 137 and love it so far, getting hard to find a Yami dealer who sells/services sleds any more so I'll be on a Cat as soon as they bring back that 7000 engine. Anyways couple of questions for you guys. Does this cat have a stock single keel ski? Yamaha had some heavy steering issues using the Tuner III, guys were constantly changing the front skid spring to remedy this issue. Does this 2016 year cat also have the same issue? Also, what other problems should we plan for to be sure to get all the bugs out of it. Thanks guys, appreciate any insight.

I have the same sled, 2020 Viper GT and I run the semi aggressive snowtrackers, work really well, the only draw back is you have to back off the ski shock preload to a minimum in order for the trackers to work properly and by doing that you lose height on the front end and increase body roll in the corners. Did you ever get a coolant leak in your sled?
