Just thought I would share this.

While replacing the belly pan on my zr 580 I found several large cracks in the alluminum bulkhead and a wrinkle behind the chaincase.

Found a 97 chassis that was mint, stripped my 96 down and transfered everything over to the new chassis.

The problem was when I went to start it up...it just backfired bang your head . grabbed my factory service manual and checked all my wiring. long story short what I found is the two connectors for the timing sensor (black connector) and the injection sensor (white connector) and the wiring are ass backwards.

after tracing the wires back to the computer I found that I had to plug the connectors white to black and black to white.... fired right up.

On the bright side it gave me something to do for awhile.

My sled uses the same timing sensor and it went bad. I've been wondering lately if they are interchangeable. I guess they are. Different part number is only because of the different connector color. Someone must have swapped the sensors around in the mag housing at some point?
