I thought there should be a ground wire from somewhere on the motor to maybe the chassis, I don't see a ground wire on my 73' Panther, isn't it supposed to have one ? and more importantly, where does it connect from and to ? I dunno

On a related note, when I was a kid I had a Datsun B210 that had a chassis to engine ground strap that was corroded. The next best connection was the throttle cable. So one day I was driving and turned the headlights on and locked up the throttle. So your idea is a good one.

the ground (brown)comes off the stator plate, Thur the harness and should be screwed to the steering column. But a second ground never hurts. I run them all the time to be sure I am grounded. If you have e-start you should have a heavier wire(10 or 12 ga) from the engine to the chassis. If not, run one or burn up the smaller brown wire, as it cannot handle the load of the starter motor. I see this a lot.
