I think that in general I understand the function of the weights in the drive clutch. What I can't figure out is the set screws in the weights. The idea is for the weights to be able to freely swing out by centrifigal force, thus opening up the pully sheeves. So what's the function of the set screws in the weights? I assume the cross bolts rotate, but why lock the weights to them with the set screws? Is it because the cross bolts have more bearing surface to rotate on than the weights do against the cross bolts?
