clutch cover gasket

Looking over my machine with 300 km on it. I removed the clutch cover and found it full of sand and grime. There wasn't any gasket between the covers to seal out the dirt. Is there supposed to be a gasket here? I think there should be as I have to replace the belt. Does anybody else having the same issue.

Your air intake ducts for belt cooling are leaking.
