You should be able to gain some perspective into the case's contents by removing the reed cages and using the ripcord to move the pistons, one by one, to top dead center. You can then see down into the case.
You can take the easier route by monitoring the level in the coolant reservoir.
The key to 2 stroke longevity is:
-Use quality injector oil.
-Take care of the motor by allowing proper warm up.
-Take the time to PROPERLY store the motor for storage.
-Check for problems and issues before and after each ride.
-Make sure that you keep the carbs clean and adjusted properly. Also check the fuel lines for cracks.
-Change the fuel filter yearly.
