Hi, I have a 1999 ZR700, it had a bad engine and i found a good deal on a fresh rebuilt one that i'm planning on buying to replace it, but when i put it in i'll also be putting on a new set of D&D twin pipes with trail can, gutted airbox, and boyesen power reeds. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what jetting to run for temps between 0 and 20 degrees at 0-500 sea level? also im putting on a 2000 cdi box and i was wondering if i should still change the needle clip position in the carb like i've heard about? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

I believe ZRNEWF runs D&D pipes on his 99 ZR700, he would be glad to help you. I run Black Magic pipes so my jetting wouldn't help you at all. Don't change the needle setting, It should be in the 3rd or center position, d&d may call for it in the 4th (down from the top) even richer but wait for some input on that.
I'll see if I can get ZRNEWF to chime in on this for ya.

Your running almost the same set up as me cept for the reeds,D&D recommends mains 350-370 and the clip in the 4th position, I'm currently talking with ZRNEWF to work out my clutching problems, they are all messed up from past owner. Had my ass handed to me past weekend by a SXR600 and MXZ600, both stock so something is wrong, plus getting 45 miles to a tank sucks.

hey thanks for the input guys. hopefully ZRNEWF chimes in too then because i'll be interested to see what he has to say too. unfortunately the deal with the engine i was buying fell trough so now i'm looking for another engine for it too. i have a complete engine that needs to be rebuilt but this was going to be a great deal so i was just gonna replace it. maybe i'll give me cat dealer a call to see what they would charge me just to redo the bottom end and replate the cyclinders and then i can put the top end together myself. if you have any info on used or rebuilt 700 engines that'll fit though let me know i may be interested. thanks again

I gave him a PM, with no reply as of yet. He must be riding or working a lot.

da da ta da! zrnewf to the rescue...ha ha. a ok, i would run the needles in the middle position, and try 360s and work down from there..... im going to try 350's this weekend...with 370s and needles with clips in 4 position was way too rich. so im leaning her out step at a time and going to get her burning good.

ok thank you very much ZRNEWF, let me know what you end up using as far as jetting when you finish getting it all figured out. also what is your exact setup as far as modifications and how happy have you been with it so far?
